New TAP's aircraft named after Amélia Rey Colaço

The Airline honors Portuguese actress and theatre by baptizing an Airbus A320neo with the name of the legendary artist.

Since Thursday, Amélia Rey Colaço has been the name of one of TAP’s new Airbus A320neo. The CS-TVE, which arrived in Lisbon at the end of May, was named after the prestigious Portuguese actress and director, major reference for Portuguese theatre.

Being a woman ahead of her time, Rey Colaço’s long career in theater also included the longest direction ever of the D. Maria II National Theater, alongside her husband and actor Robles Monteiro.

TAP is once again honoring Portuguese culture by engraving the name of one of its greatest personalities on one of the most modern aircraft in its fleet, the Airbus A320neo. From this historic moment, Amélia Rey Colaço is linked to the Airline and her name now crosses the skies to over 70 destinations in Europe and Africa.

The aircraft's baptism ceremony took place Thursday morning at TAP’s Hangar 6 and was attended by Rey Colaço's family members and by some TAP’s Crew members who are connected to the world of acting, who had the opportunity to attend the moment in which the name was painted. All guests visited the aircraft.

TAP is experiencing a moment of solid growth, based on a strong increase and modernization of the Airline's fleet, the only one in the world to currently fly the entire family of Airbus' latest generation NEO aircraft.
