TAP carried 1,25 million passengers

The Portuguese airline had the best November ever.

Year to date the airline has already carried as many passengers as the whole year of 2018.
  • TAP carried 1,25 million passengers in November, 129,000, or 11.5 percent, more than in the same month last year.
  • Load Factor increased by 2,1 percent compared to November 2018.
  • TAP is growing in all network segments: Portugal, rest of Europe, North America, Brazil and Africa.
  • Since the beginning of the year the Portuguese airline has carried 15,8 million passengers, 1,1 million (7,7 percent) more than in the same period last year.
  • Thus, the company has already equaled the total number of passengers carried last year, even when there is still more December left, which is one of the strongest months in terms of demand.
TAP carried 1,25 million passengers in November, 129,000 more than in the same month last year, an increase of 11,5 percent.

From January to the end of November, the airline has already transported a total of 15,8 million passengers, 1,1 million more than in the same period of 2018, a 7,7 percent growth.

By the end of November, the Portuguese carrier was able to carry the same number of passengers as in the whole year of 2018, still missing December which is traditional, along with August, one of the busiest months throughout the year.

In November, the RPK (revenue passengers x kilometres) of TAP grew 15,7 percent, while the ASK (available seat x kilometres) had an increase of 12,5 percent, which enabled an improvement in the flights occupancy rate (load factor) of 2,1 percent to 76,4 percent, compared to the same month of 2018. Year-to-date, the load factor is now at 80,5 percent.

TAP grew in November in all network segments in which it operates (mainland Portugal, Islands, Europe, North America, Venezuela, Brazil and Africa). The highlights are the 53 percent growth in North American routes, the continued recovery in Brazil with 2 percent more passengers and the absolute growth of another 63,000 passengers on European routes excluding Portugal, which equates to a nine percent growth from November 2018.

Also contributing to this sustained growth in the number of passengers carried is TAP's Portugal Stopover program, through which thousands of tourists continue to discover Portugal before continuing their trip to their final destinations.
