Social Commitment

Connecting people and communities.

APAV (Portuguese Association for Victim Support)

It has developed its activity of supporting crime victims, at a national and international level.

Despite the obstacles posed by the pandemic, it managed to strengthen its partnerships with Mozambique, Cape Verde and Brazil.

Médicos do Mundo

Within the scope of the social intervention of the Ndedja Mission (response to the tropical cyclone Idai which, in 2019, reached the central zone of Mozambique and displaced about 1.85 million people), it provided health care to 402 families.

Mundo a Sorrir

The implementation of their oral health projects was simplified with trips to São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde.

SIM (International Solidarity to Mozambique)

Even in a year marked by countless challenges, it managed to carry out, in several provinces of Mozambique, various actions and prevention campaigns in the area of health and education.

WACT (We Are Changing Together)

You can take more trainees and volunteers to the field, thus implementing your social entrepreneurship projects with the communities of São Tomé and Príncipe.

The Program was recently renewed and extended to more institutions, which made it possible for the application of entities with headquarters, not only in Portugal, but also in Brazil and in the African countries where we operate. However, the impact and duration of the Covid-19 pandemic imposed the postponement of new partnerships, and the imposed restrictions limited the execution of some projects. Even so, and throughout the year of 2020, we were able to provide support to more than 30 airline tickets.

We are always looking to support good causes and encourage our employees to take part in them. Whether on a regular basis or as a one-off, and regardless of our field of activity, our goal is always to make a difference.

In January and February of 2020, we supported CASA - Homeless Support Center, and together with their volunteers, we have engaged in social solidarity activities promoted by the association, particularly in the preparation and distribution of hot meals, hygiene products and clothes.

However, and given the worldwide context that followed, and still remains today, the way in which we relate and live as a community has changed, and this has also put the face-to-face volunteering initiatives on hold, but not our solidarity.

Campaigns and Donations

We believe it is by strengthening our values that our impact on and contribution to the development of society can be maximised, in complete alignment with our business.

In 2020, in support of the most deprived communities and the social organizations that help them daily, we donated more than half a million of food and discontinued material from our operation. In total, we reached more than 60 social organizations.

Juntos por Moçambique (Together for Mozambique)

Following the destruction caused in Mozambique by Cyclone Idai in March 2019, we organised a campaign to help support the country through the donation of miles. Yet again, our TAP Miles&Go Clients contributed with solidarity miles for all the organisations involved; miles that were later used by rescue missions and for the transportation of auxiliary cargo.
