TAP with new stand at BTL reveals summer novelties

  • In a partnership with the Portuguese Olympic Committee, Portuguese athletes will fly to Paris with TAP
  • New Chefs create Long Haul Business Class menus and renovate "Local Stars" programme
  • CEO Luís Rodrigues announces increased summer frequencies

TAP has launched a new stand at Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa  (BTL) this year, reinforcing its presence as one of the most important exhibitors at Portugal's biggest tourism event. The company's new stand is inspired by TAP's new positioning, "We embrace the world".

With an innovative approach and an inspiring design, this TAP space was conceived to provide visitors with an immersive experience that evokes the excitement and adventure of travelling.

The TAP stand at this year's BTL promises to be an unforgettable experience for all participants, offering a unique insight into the world of aviation and tourism.

It was here that the company held its usual BTL event, with actor and TAP ambassador Ricardo Pereira as master of ceremonies. On the occasion, the CEO Luís Rodrigues, revealed the company's main innovations for 2024.

TAP is an official partner of the Portuguese Olympic Committee and is flying Olympic athletes to Paris

During the BTL event, which was attended by José Manuel Constantino, President of the COP, and Olympic athletes Liliana Cá (athletics), Miguel Nascimento (swimming) and Gustavo Ribeiro (skateboarding), TAP and the Portuguese Olympic Committee announced a partnership between the two organisations. TAP is part of "Team Portugal" and is taking the athletes and the rest of the Olympic delegation to Paris 2024.

José Manuel Constantino said that "this relationship we have established in relation to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which also has the circumstance of being linked to a country with a significant Portuguese presence over several generations, is particularly significant for us. I would like to publicly thank TAP for its willingness to enter into this partnership with the Portuguese Olympic Committee."

Luís Rodrigues said he hoped that on their return, TAP would be able to bring some of these athletes back with the Olympic medals they won in Paris.

New Portuguese chefs renew "Local Stars" and Business Class menus

At BTL, TAP Air Portugal and The Art of Tasting Portugal presented the six new chefs and star products that will be on board the airline's long-haul flights over the next 12 months.

Through the Local Stars project, TAP's business class journeys are an ode to Portugal and emblematic national ingredients, by highlighting a region and product in the hands of a national chef.

Following the success of the first year of the project, the next chefs are Arnaldo Azevedo, André Cruz, Rodrigo Castelo, Carlos Afonso, Alexandre Silva and Rui Paula, who will present a region of Portugal and one of the most emblematic products in their work, through an exclusive signature menu, which will be served for two months on board TAP aircraft.

The "Local Stars" project, which began last year and is now being renewed for 2024, aims to highlight the national territory and its characteristics and thus present the diversity and richness of the national gastronomic panorama.

TAP strengthens summer operations to Brazil and North America.

At the peak of summer 2024, the company will offer 96 flights a week between Portugal and Brazil, 16 more than the 80 weekly flights operated last summer.

This summer, TAP will also operate 77 flights a week between Portugal and the United States of America, five more than in the same period last year, and 20 weekly flights to Canada, five more than in the summer of 2023.
