TAP Air Portugal and Icelandair today extended their long-standing partnership and signed a codeshare agreement. The agreement was made signed at TAP headquarters in Lisbon.
TAP offers an extensive network of 90 destinations around the world, including Europe, Africa and South America. Icelandair's routes network covers around 60 destinations in Europe and North America.
Both airlines are known for their Stopover programs, which offer passengers the opportunity to visit the airlines' home countries en route between destinations without additional airfare.
The bilateral codeshare partnership will come into effect in the coming weeks, and customers of both airlines will be able to connect with both airlines’ networks on a single ticket, with their baggage checked through to their final destination.
Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair:
“We are excited to add TAP to our impressive list of codeshare partners. We recently launched services to Lisbon and, by sharing a code with TAP, we will be able to significantly increase connectivity for customers of both airlines. Customers traveling from Iceland can stopover in Lisbon on their way to TAP’s impressive list of destinations. TAP customers can fly via Lisbon to Iceland and even to Icelandair’s extensive network.”
Luis Rodrigues, CEO of TAP Air Portugal:
“We believe that this partnership with Icelandair will enrich the portfolio of trips and destinations that we offer to customers across our network. By partnering with Icelandair, we will be able to offer seamless flight options to Iceland, one of the most exciting trip destinations, and open up our comprehensive network of destinations, available from our Lisbon hub, to all Icelandair customers. We look forward to working together with Icelandair for the benefit of all travellovers.”
