TAP now flies from Porto directly to Boston

The new connection between “Invicta” and the USA starts with four flights per week.

TAP Air Portugal inaugurated, this Wednesday, its new route between Porto and Boston, with flight TP227, which landed yesterday at Boston Logan International Airport at 8:45 pm, bringing the North of the country even closer to the United States of America, with four weekly flights.

Flights between Porto and Boston are operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays until October 25, departing from Porto between 5:40 pm and 6:15 pm, and arriving in Boston between 8:20 pm and 8:45 pm, on a flight lasting seven hours and 35 minutes. In the opposite direction, flights depart from Boston between 10:55 pm and 11:15 pm, and land in Porto between 10:35 am and 10:55 am the next day, on a flight lasting six hours and 40 minutes.

The inauguration event of this new TAP intercontinental route departing from Porto, which took place at the boarding gate at Francisco Sá Carneiro airport, was attended by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Hugo Espírito Santo, Luís Rodrigues, President of TAP, and Thierry Liggonière, CEO of ANA Airports.

For Luís Rodrigues, "TAP contributes to bringing Porto closer to the rest of the world, favoring the mobility of residents and communities, while capturing and attracting important North American and Brazilian tourist flows to Porto and Northern Portugal, relevant to the region's economy. In addition, the TAP Group employs 368 workers at its base in Porto, also indirectly generating hundreds of jobs related to aviation, our suppliers and service providers and the tourism sector."

The CEO of ANA Airports, Thierry Liggoniêre, in turn, considered that "this inaugural flight to Boston is a milestone that we are very proud of, the result of continuous and collaborative work with TAP Air Portugal as strategic partners. We congratulate TAP for this commitment to Porto, which not only reinforces our connection to the North American market and the Portuguese diaspora but also confirms the role of Porto Airport as a strategic platform for the development of new international routes, with a focus on quality of service and sustainability."

TAP operates this new Porto – Boston route with the modern Airbus A321-Long Range, with capacity for 168 passengers, 16 of which are in business class. Fares are available from 529 euros, round trip.

TAP will now fly from Porto to two cities in the USA, Boston and Newark, and from Lisbon to seven North American airports, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Newark, New York, San Francisco and Washington DC. From 16 May, flights between Lisbon and Los Angeles will start and, from 3 June, one of TAP's weekly flights between Lisbon and San Francisco, on Tuesdays, will make a stopover on Terceira.

TAP currently serves Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport with 17 direct long-haul flights per week, to the destinations of New York (Newark), Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Luanda and now Boston. In addition, the Company offers 127 weekly medium-haul flights from Porto, including connections within Portugal, but also other destinations such as Paris, London (Gatwick), Geneva, Zurich and Luxembourg.
