TAP and UP Magazine are world leaders

  • World’s Leading Airline to South America 2018
  • World’s Leading Airline to Africa 2018
  • World’s Leading Inflight Magazine 2018
TAP is now not just Europe’s leading airline to South America and Africa, while UP is no longer simply Europe’s leading in-flight magazine. Now it is the world leader.
TAP was named the World’s Leading Airline to Africa and the World’s Leading Airline to South America, and its in-flight magazine, UP, named the World’s Leading Inflight Magazine at the most recent World Travel Awards. These awards, which are considered the “Oscars” of world tourism, were presented at a ceremony at Lisbon’s Pátio da Galé yesterday.
Antonoaldo Neves, TAP’s CEO, said “TAP has stepped up to an even higher level, that of world leadership, which leaves us feeling proud for the recognition of all the hard work by our employees. Congratulations are also due to UP and its team for their excellent work.

The awards clearly belong to them. They are wholly deserved for their enormous efforts, dedication and skill. This recognition brings greater responsibilities to us all and serves as extra motivation to continue seeking to do more and better. I would like to say a special thank you to the whole TAP family: Staff and Clients”.

First held in 1993, the World Travel Awards seek to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Nominated with some of the world’s most recognised airlines, TAP was chosen through an online vote of mostly tourism and travel professionals, such as travel agents and tourism operators and organisations from more than 100 countries, and by members of the general public.
This year’s trophies have raised TAP’s prestige to that of a World Leader, and are added to the awards the company won in previous years. The World Travel Awards named TAP Europe’s Leading Airline to Africa and Europe’s Leading Airline to South America in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. The airline has returned to the level of World’s Leader to Africa, a prize it won in 2011 and 2012, and to South America, which it won in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. So now TAP is a “five-times champion” for South America and Africa.

UP magazine was also named Europe’s Leading In-flight Magazine in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The World’s Leader accolades awarded by the World Travel Awards to TAP are the corollary and global recognition of the company’s investment in its transformation and renewal, with the arrival of new aircraft into its fleet, including the Airbus A330neo, which TAP was the first airline to receive and which will be the first in the world to fly, as well as the announcement of new routes and the steady expansion of its network and activities.
TAP will end 2018 having carried a record number of more than 16 million passengers, and has introduced plans and methods for improving its punctuality in order to further improve customer satisfaction.
