TAP flew 1.9 million passengers between Portugal and Spain in 2018

TAP will once again be present at FITUR, the most important tourism fair in Spain, which starts today in Madrid.

The Portuguese airline will be promoting its new products for 2019.

TAP has announced new options in its Portugal-Spain operations for 2019 - more specifically, a new daily connection between Lisbon and Tenerife, starting on June 15. Flights will take off from Tenerife Sud at 12.45 pm and arrive in Lisbon at 3 pm. In the opposite direction, departures from Lisbon are scheduled for 9.30 am, landing in Tenerife Sud at 12 pm.

TAP consolidates its leadership in air connections between Portugal and Spain

Spanish routes account for 12.1% of all traffic handled by TAP.

The Spanish market is of enormous importance to TAP, as it now represents 7.8% of the airline's traffic.

The Lisbon hub plays a crucial role in offering connections to the entire TAP network, more specifically to North America, Brazil, Venezuela and Africa, not forgetting Madeira and the Azores.

TAP operates 201 weekly flights between Portugal and Spain, with departures from Lisbon to Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Valencia and, as of June, Tenerife, as well as from Porto to Barcelona and Madrid.

TAP is growing

Voted the World's Leading Airline for South America and Africa at the World Travel Awards, TAP has also been steadily investing in the North American market.

This year, in addition to the routes already operating in North America (New York-JFK, Newark, Miami, Boston and Toronto), the airline will be launching 5 weekly flights to Chicago, as of June 1; 5 weekly flights to San Francisco, from June 10; and 5 weekly flights to Washington, beginning June 16.

Other new routes offered this year by the Portuguese airline are Tel Aviv, Dublin, Naples and Basel (from Lisbon) and Munich, Brussels and Lyon (from Porto).

One of the most modern, comfortable and efficient fleets in the world

In December, TAP became the first airline in the world to offer the unbeatable, far-reaching and highly efficient features of the new Airspace cabin.

This is a new concept that reflects the company's ambition to provide customers with the best products the industry has to offer - in this case, through the Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

The Portuguese carrier is also the first European airline to offer all passengers free unlimited text messages (using WiFi) on transatlantic flights.

In addition to state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system and WiFi connectivity, the Airbus A330-900neo offers 298 seats comfortably arranged across three cabin classes: 34 seats in executive class, 96 in economy plus class, and 168 in economy class. Among other innovations, the new Airbus Airspace cabin offers all passengers more space, larger luggage compartments, and an innovative cabin lighting system.

The purpose of the new aircraft is to improve and expand TAP's long-haul operation.

The Airbus A330-900neo is a state-of-the-art aircraft. This highly efficient aircraft is powered by the latest generation of Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 jet engines and features new, larger wings with 3D optimization and new sharklets for the best aerodynamic performance.

These advances reduce fuel consumption by 10-12% compared to last generation aircraft of a similar size.
TAP is scheduled to receive 37 new airplanes by the end of 2019 and 71 until 2025, providing the company with one of the most modern fleets in the world.

This fleet renewal and expansion has enabled the company to announce more flights and new destinations.

TAP will take delivery of 37 new airplanes by the end of 2019 and 71 until 2025, making it one of the most modern fleets in the world.

In addition to the A330-900neo, the Portuguese Airline is scheduled to receive the A320neo, A321neo and A321neo Long Range aircraft from Airbus.
