TAP expands fleet with new Airbus A321 LR

TAP Air Portugal received today the second Airbus A321 Long Range, with the registration number CS-TXB, which arrived directly from the Airbus factory in Hamburg.

This is TAP's second narrow body aircraft able to fly transatlantic routes, of which TAP will take full advantage, thanks to Portugal's geographic position, both for connections to the east coast of the United States, and the northeast of Brazil. This aircraft's range and flexibility will enable the airline to increase connections between Porto and New York, with the goal of offering a daily flight on this route.

TAP intends to use this aircraft to fly to North American destinations such as New York, Boston, Montreal and Washington. In Brazil, it will let the airline tap into new markets in the Northeast and increase the offer to various cities such as Recife, Natal, Fortaleza and Salvador.

The airline will also ensure that all passengers experience the same level of comfort on transatlantic flights operated with the Airbus A321LR as on the best long-haul aircraft. The Airbus A321LR has 16 state-of-the-art full flat seats in business class, four of which are individual and also offers more space in economy class, with ergonomic seats equivalent to those provided on the Airbus A330neo long-haul aircraft, and an in-flight entertainment and connectivity system that allows free and unlimited texting.

Since 2015, TAP has used fresh investment capacity to make a significant investment in fleet modernisation, aligned with the airline's ambition to offer the industry's best product to its Customers. Currently, TAP is the only airline in the world operating all the state-of-the-art Airbus NEO aeroplanes, with 71 new aeroplanes expected by 2025 from the following four Airbus models: A320neo, A321neo, A321LR and A330neo. 14 of the aeroplanes from this order will be A321 Long Range models like the one received on Saturday.
