“Bartolomeu Perestrelo” joins the TAP long-haul fleet

TAP named one of its new Airbus A330neo, registration CS-TUF, Bartolomeu Perestrelo on Tuesday, in homage to one of the men responsible for populating the Madeira archipelago, along with Tristão Vaz Teixeira and João Gonçalves Zarco, under the orders of King João I.

Bartolomeu Perestrelo was a knight of the Houses of Infantes D. João and D. Henrique and the first captain-major of Porto Santo, a position he held until his death in 1458.

He now joins other historic figures the airline has paid homage to on its long-haul fleet.

The naming of this aircraft reinforces TAP’s participation in publicising Madeira’s history of to the world.
