Tickets bought by 31 May 2021 for this new route can be changed more easily
Mexico's Cancun is TAP’s latest direct flight from Lisbon, starting in 2021. The connection between the two cities begins this Saturday 27 March with three flights a week. Departures leave Lisbon on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 11:45 p.m. (local time) and arrival in Cancun at 4:00 a.m. the next day, except for the inaugural flight which will leave Lisbon at 10:45 p.m.and arrive at 4:10 a.m. the next morning. In the opposite direction, flights leave Cancun at 7:30 p.m. (local time), on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving back in Lisbon at 10:30 a.m. the following day.
The new route will bolster TAP's competitiveness at its hub in Lisbon as it provides privileged access between Central America and Europe. Cancun is one of the most popular Central American destinations TAP offers its European customers.
Cancun is perfect for people who want to relax on white sandy beaches lapped by the deep blue waters of the Caribbean. The more adventurous can explore the surrounding area and the amazing Riviera Maya with its Temple of Kukulcán pyramid and the ruins of Tulum along with many other attractions.
The flights on TAP's new route will use a state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo, which offers passengers a very quiet, comfortable journey and the most advanced technology, including the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity system. Tickets to and from Cancun purchased by 31 May, flying until 31 December 2021, can be changed for free. The new TAP route had been announced for 2020 but its launch was postponed due to the pandemic and flights will now begin in March 2021. TAP constantly monitors the spread of the pandemic and its operational impacts. The list of routes and flights are adjusted whenever circumstances require.
TAP extends current travel insurance cover to communicable diseases, including Covid-19
TAP's priority has always been to carry its Customers safely at every stage of their journey. TAP, in partnership with CHUBB, has extended the cover of its current travel insurance policies to include Covid-19 and other communicable diseases. It now covers certain cancellations and medical expenses and is available for all fares, from Discount to Top Executive.
TAP travel insurance, which includes the new cover, can be purchased for new bookings and bookings that have already been made in Portugal, through www.flytap.com.
The Company has offered free Covid-19 insurance since September to help cover the costs and risks of infection, increasing safety and ensuring greater peace of mind. This free insurance is for Customers residing in Portugal after buying return tickets in Portugal with Classic, Plus Executive and Top Executive tariffs for flights on routes operated by TAP. It is available for journeys of up to nine passengers per booking, with a maximum duration of 30 days, starting up to 90 days after purchasing the flights, among other conditions.
