TAP supports portuguese association of the disabled with solidarity auction

Initiative, in partnership with the eSolidar platform, starts this Monday, October 24th, and ends on October 31st.

TAP, in partnership with the online fundraising platform eSolidar, launches its 17th TAP Solidarity Auction this Monday, 24 October, which will benefit the Portuguese Association of the Disabled (APD). Up for auction are 20 triple airplane seats (15 economy class and five executive class).

The proceeds from this 17th edition will go to the Portuguese Association of the Disabled (APD), an organization which has as its fundamental goal the representation, promotion, and defense of all human rights and fundamental freedoms of people with disabilities in Portugal, as well as raising awareness and involving the Portuguese society as a whole.

On its competitive dimension, APD Lisbon's wheelchair basketball team has won four National Championships, 10 Portuguese Cups and four Supercups, but also frequently participates in awareness-raising actions and demonstrations of the sport, either in schools, colleges, or other types of events. Filipe Nogueira, an employee at TAP Maintenance and Engineering, an APD Associate and ambassador for this initiative, is also captain of the wheelchair basketball team.

This TAP social responsibility initiative is running from October 24th to 31st, and the money raised from this auction will help purchase and adapt a new van to transport APD Lisbon athletes and their gaming wheelchairs.
